Description
Mrs Janine Patterson ambushed by angry mob, SAPS after leaving lifelike doll in car
16 May 2013 - Mrs Janine Patterson was 'ambushed' on Friday by the SAPS and a mob of about 50 people who shouted at her for 'leaving the baby in a hot car'. Look local journalist Daleen Naude writes that 'the police were ready to arrest Mrs Janine Patterson and the mob was all set to break open her car window.
"They (the SAPS) already grabbed me and were getting ready to throw me into the police van because they refused to believe that the doll wasn't a baby,' she said. She explained that she makes the life-like dolls herself - and had left one doll she named 'Nathan' on the front seat of her car inside its little blanket while she went to a cellphone business in the city centre.
She suspects that someone saw her put the 'wrapped up baby' on the front seat, because two hours later when she returned to her car, all hell broke lose. She was surrounded by a black mob and two police women. The crowd was screaming hysterically and even rocking her car to see if 'the baby was still alive'.
"There was no time to explain because the police women were all set to dump her into the van for 'child abuse'. She said she had to beg with them to let her open the car to show them the doll. "When I opened the car and grabbed the 'baby' by the arm and showed them the fabric the doll was made from, they started believing me.'
She said she 'had some panic moments' but at the same time it was a 'compliment' because people believed the dolls was so lifelike. She makes these herself with materials from Germany.
The dolls are filled with a type of glass which represents the exact weight of a real baby. It's also painted in several layers of realistic paint and each layer is baked: creating 'the idea that the baby has veins beneath the skin'.
Each doll gets its own character and name, and its 'birthweight'. She can even place a little machine inside the doll to duplicate a human heart beat and the dolls can make baby-sounds.
'Why do people buy such lifelike dolls?' she was asked. "Some people buy these dolls to deal with the mourning process after losing a baby,' she said.

SA's most successful crime-fighting unit in Middelburg disbanded: they were 'too white' says top cop

12:09 Aug 2 2013 Middelburg, South Africa
Description
Top successful SAPS crime-fighting unit in Middelburg disbanded: they were too white" says top cop -- Middelburg has lost four of its top-performing white specialist-police officers after the ANC-regime disbanded their crime-fighting unit and transferred them overnight to some town called eMalahleni. After top Afrikaner crime-fighter colonel Anton Crafford was pensioned off his entire four-member unit was disbanded by the new chief colonel Lawrence Mnisi, who reportedly said 'we're just waiting for Crafford to go on pension so that we can sink that entire white unit'. He ordered the cops out of their offices and installed himself instead.
-----------------------
02 August 2013 "One of the unit's specialist-investigator said he's 'finished with the SAPS' after they were disbanded overnight by Mnisi.
When one of its former members wanted to raise formal objects to the unit's disbandment, he was told 'shit happens'and ordered to report to 'eMalahleni'.
These were colonel Crafford's hand-picked men so that they could exclusively focus on the more serious cases and were given more time and better equipment to carry out their work.
Only their typist still remains in Unit 7's offices were colonel Mnisi has now 'moved in together with some guys he ordered fetched from the provincial police headquarters'.
The CSI-unit gained an eighty percent success-rate ever since it was started by Colonel Crafford in 2008.
They sent hundreds of very violent criminals -mostly murderers and armed robbers - to jail. They were so specialised that they could even find clues after up to twenty disorderly cops had trampled all over the crime scene, writes the Witbank journalist.
"We could work around out colleagues who knew they weren't supposed to be on the crime scene, and we worked any time of the day or night, as a team,' said one of the disbanded members.
They were simply told to vacate their offices 'because colonel Mnisi wanted the space'.
Three of their five vehicles were redistributed amongst the provincial police units and 'millions of rands of their police equipment were handed out like toffies'.
We 'were told we weren't disbanded but effectively the equipment and wheels were taken away from beneath us and our team was split up into four seperate parts.
One well-experienced officer says he now can no longer talk to any of his former colleagues because they have all been assigned to different shifts and working-hours.
"I am no racist but it is very clear that this is a strike against white police officers while my colleagues and I gave our very best to the unit,' said the member, who now even has to work without a computer.
Mnisi claimed that the 'Middelburg CSI unit was 'decentralised to apply their skills on a wider level.' He couldn't say why the team was split up however -- while new CSI-teams were just started up in Nelspruit and Secunda.
He says 'the men shouldn't complain: the decentralisation has no impact on them, they didn't even have to move (house), he explained.
He claims that 'the decision to decentralise the local (Middelburg) unit was taken because not all four members could attend all the high-priority crime scenes', and that's why he 'started CSI units in Nelspruit and Secunda.

Description
Eight armed black males in police uniform attack the Monia family in Meyer Street, Middelburg South Africa 25 July 2013

A group of eight black men in Police uniforms and driving in MARKED SAPS vehicles attacked the home of Mr Muhammed Suliman Monia on Meyer STreet early Thursday morning July 25 2013. According to owner of the house, Mr Muhammed Suliman Monia, the men arrived outside his home in two white Golf GTi vehicles - one of them plastered with SAPS markings. They drove into the yard as soon as the electronic controlled gate was opened to allow a member of the household into the property.
“They banged on the door and said it was the Police. Just as the door was opened they barged their way into the house, claiming that they were searching for drugs and received a tip-off that we’re money laundering. It was outrageous,” said Mr Monia. They were tied up with cable ties as the suspects ransacked the household, searching for any items of value. They stole mostly electronic items, including laptops. The CCTV systems was entirely disconnected, and the recording was also stolen.“The men were professionals. They carried themselves very expertly and knew what they were looking for. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were really Policemen. They were fearless,” said Mr Monia. At the time of going to print, Middelburg SAPS detectives were on the scene taking statements and looking for clues. http://www.looklocal.co.za/looklocal/content/en/middelburg/middelburg-mobile-news?oid=7648587&sn=Mobile-Detail&pid=4979984&Armed--policemen--rob-household

Julie Cruse 72 tortured to death in horrific hate crime: a year later the police have no leads...

Julie Cruse 72 tortured to death in horrific hate crime: a year later the police have no leads...
Description
Julie Cruse, 72, tied up, tortured with hot iron all over her body, slowly strangled to death: Middelburg.
There was nothing 'ordinary' about the horrific way in which 72-year-old Mrs Julie Cruse of Pullen's Hope Middelburg was murdered.
She first was trussed up like a pig, then she was tortured for hours with hot irons all over her body. And then she was slowly strangled to death. The ferocity of the murder indicates that this was a hatecrime - somebody who hated this woman so much that she was very slowly and painfully tortured to death.
The maid of Mrs Julie Cruse 72 reportedly was very badly traumatised when she discovered her employer's tortured, mutilated body in her home in Pullens Hope, Middelburg.
She was tortured with a hot iron and also with a bread-toaster. One can only imagine the pain she must have endured.
Yet a year later, her killers are still at large. Her exhusband Ron Cruse said four months ago that the information which was supplied to the then-investigating officer was not even followed up opn.
He had enquired at two police stations - in Hendrina and Middelburg, but 'could never get any answers', he told the Middelburg Observer's Daleen Naude.
On 2 June 2012, the maid of Mrs Julie Cruse 72 was very badly traumatised when she discovered her employer's tortured, mutilated body in her home in Pullens Hope, Middelburg.
And a year later, her killers are still at large. A new investigation officer Lt Salmon Shabangu, was appointed to handle the case, said Hendrina SAPS spokesman David Mbenekazi.
The Middelburg Observer's Daleen Naude writes that the murder-victim's maid Maria Magola found her employers' badly mutilated body.
At the post-mortem examination it was discovered that a kitchen-cloth had also been pushed down her gullet, and that she had numerous burn-marks from hot-irons all over her body. A bloodied cloth was wrapped around her neck and the post-mortem showed that she had died of suffocation.
The couple's children wanted to appoint a private investigator to try and find the murderers - but, said Mr Cruse, it's the police who have to do the job they were being paid for. A spokesman for the Hendrina SAPS, David Mbenekazi, said the case has now been handed over to Lt Salmon Shabangu. He confirmed that nobody was arrested and that they were 'looking for urgent leads'.
Now the community is being asked to report any relevant information they may have about this one-year-old case to Lt Shabangu. He can be reached at tel. 078 508 9029.

-----------------------
Me.
Haar eksman, mnr.
Salmon Shabangu oorhandig is.

In 2012, there were 720 deaths in custody or deaths caused by police action. (AND THERE WERE ONLY 36 CONVICTIONS)
And the Independent Police Investigation Division has a backlog of nearly 5,000 similar reports.
By comparison: during apartheid from 1948 to 1994, a total of 73 people died in police-custody.

ASHTON POOL AND ROOMMATE: NOW TERRIFIED OF COPS AFTER BRUTAL BEATING BY COPS:
On June 11 2013, Eyewitness News received more complaints: from Ashton Pool and his roommate.-One case led to the arrest of two officers accused of stealing a bag full of expensive elctronics from Ashton Poool: arrested for a crossing a red robot in the dead of night ON DESERTED STREETS.(*Background: many South Africans fear stopping at traffic lights at night as the greatest number of assaults, hijackings and kidnappings take place at night at traffic lights.) Ashton Pool and his roommate were caught skipping a traffic light in the middle of the night, last month. During his hours of detention, he said, a police officer: 'ran up from a few meters and kicked me over a table. I landfed against a counter and then he came to hit me more'. The officer also threatened to pour boiling water on him. Pool said he had to leave his home and is battling at work. "When I put the kettle on I think of that and when I see a cop van I'm so paranoid, I mean these people are supposed to protect us.'

In another case a man was locked up and beaten after his fiance was accused of stealing a cellphone.

GERALD CAREY: STILL FEARS FOR HIS LIFE AFTER BRUTAL ASSAULT WITH BASEBALL BAT BY COPS:
In May, Gerald Carey was arrested, pushed into an empty plot and beaten with a baseball bat after he refused to pay a bribe.

-----------
An Emmerentia resident's house was turned upside down and damaged by policemen who claimed they were 'chasing information about a drug lab'. Last month Gerald Carey of Kempton Park also claimed he was beaten for refusing to a pay a bribe.
Cary said: "I was asking him what they were doing and why they were doing this to me. I told them they were hurting me and asked them why, because they were the police'. After he managed to stand up, he made a run for it and was able to hitchhike ome before being taken to hospital. The SaPS claim that in turn the officers 'have also opened a charge of assault against Carey, said Katlego Mogale.

And in May 2013, Pretoria technicon student Gopolang Ngobeni was shot dead execution-style by a cop while he was still getting out of a car, after it was stopped by 2 cops while he and four other friends were enroute to a funeral.
On May 30 2013, hundreds of students, staff and family paid tribute to murdered student Gopolang Ngobeni at the Pretoria University of Technology: who was 'allegedly' killed by a police officer in Randfontein. He was amongst five students travelling to a funeral when theys topped for directions at the garage. The constable ordered all of them out of the car and shot Ngobeni while he was still trying to get out of the car.

NATIONWIDE PROBLEM:
This is a nationwide problem: previous incidents of police brutality prompted a conference earlier this year on the behaviour of officers countrywide.

The 'Independent Police Investigations Division's Moses Dlamini was one of the speakers at a seminar on police brutality in Pretoria by the Institute of Security Studies. Dlamini also mentioned various cases: including the dragging-torture and murder of Mozambican taxi driver Mido Macia - but said '' not all police officers were guilty of brutality.'

The state of the world's human rights
Harassment of human rights defenders and criminalization of their work continued. Those affected included journalists, staff from the Public Protector’s office, anti-corruption investigators and community-based organizations promoting economic and social rights.
  • In July, 12 supporters of the housing rights movement, Abahlali baseMjondolo, were acquitted of all charges in the state’s case against them. These included murder, attempted murder and assault relating to violence in the Kennedy Road informal settlement in September 2009. In its ruling the court noted “numerous contradictions and discrepancies in the state’s case” and the lack of any reliable evidence to identify the accused. The court also found that police had directed some witnesses to point out members of Abahlali-linked organizations at the identification parade. At the end of the year, Abahlali supporters who were displaced after their homes were looted and destroyed in 2009 were still unable to return safely and rebuild their homes. In October, at a meeting with the Executive Mayor of the Ethekwini Metropolitan Municipality about this issue, a senior official allegedly threatened Abahlali’s president, S’bu Zikode, with violence. A police investigation into his criminal complaint against the official had made no progress by the end of the year.
