The escape of prisoners from South African jails is very common and has also taken place at the Honeydew police station previously. This includes birthday bash presidential pardons of criminals and their release in their thousands, resulting in the documented loss of life of law abiding citizens. Over and above this anathema the constant purge of tens of thousands of criminals from jails, in addition to providing full election day voting rights and other benefits is fuelling the crime.
