Description
Meisie Brits,65: fought like a lioness against four blacks who tried to
rape and murder her: Police only investigate 'housebreaking' - not 'attempted
murder' : Wilgehof, Bloemfontein, Free State. June 6 2013: Mrs Meisie Brits 's
left arm, broken by four black thugs who crushed it with large gardening tool,
needed steel plates and six steel screws to repair, and she also had to get
stitches sewn up on her head. But she survived the fierce attack by the men who
attacked her in her bedroom shortly before midnight on Friday, May312013.
Volksblad newspaper interviewed her at home after her ordeal.
She told them: "while they were breaking my arm and tried to rape me, I held on to my pants and fought back.' Three of the four men were arrested and already appeared in court, said the SAPS. She said she was watching TV in her bedroom when she heard noises. She turned on the outside lights and saw one man sitting right underneath her bedroom window. She rushed to her cellphone and had just enough time to call the neighours, saying that a group of men was breaking in and they had to come at once. She turned her phone off just as two men attacked her in her bedroom.
The police said they had torn off an outer gate from its hinges, bent it
open and crawled underneath to get into her yard. Then they broke a kitchen
window. They found the heavy gardening-shears they attacked her with, on her
refrigerator. She said: "They didn't say anything. They simply started
hitting me and would have bludgeoned me to death if my neighbour hadn't shown
up." The men fled with her HOUSE AND CAR KEYS-- (editor: why do they
always do that?) and also took her handbag and money. The SAPS from the
ParkRoad police station in Bloemfontein was on the scene within minutes and
arrested three of them. SAPS captain apt. Chaka Marope confirmed that the
arrested men, Small Hindro (22), Thumi Prince (22) and Andrew Vries (20)
appeared in court on a charge of 'houserobbery' (NOT ATTEMPTED MURDER). It is
expected that they will apply for bail Monday. They are still looking for the
fourth guy. They did not publish a description of the man.
