A KAMMA PARK woman whose son was knocked down by a car in April alleges a Walmer investigating officer tried to coerce and intimidate her family into accepting a bribe from the driver’s mother to drop the case.
Mrs Anita Akeer has written to deputy area commissioner Director Zamithango Mki about the matter and is demanding that the officer be investigated for misconduct and trying to defeat the ends of justice.
Dir Mki yesterday confirmed receiving Mrs Akeer’s complaint.
“We immediately decided to replace the investigating officer with another one.
“We will internally investigate her complaint and how the inspector has done his job,” he said.
The alleged hit-and-run driver would be appearing in court.
