and 23 officers signed an urgent petition to the SAHRC for their protection.
They said that the Young Communist League secretary Sibusiso Radebe and ANC
councillor in the Albert Luthuli local municipality Pro Khoza had explicitly
threatened local white police officers by name, with physical harm while they
were all attending a land-claims meeting. "I myself was also threatened
that if I supported my white officers, I would be out of the window. The
threats against the other officers were worse," said Marivate.
