349 Cops Charged With Aiding Escaped Prisoners in 2012

Dianne Kohler Barnard says that according to the SAPS annual report 349 SAPS members were charged with aiding an escapee.

According to the South African Police Services (SAPS) Annual Report, 988 detainees escaped from police custody during the 2012/13 financial year. This represents over 10 000 hours of detective work thrown away, and possible criminals back out on the streets.
