Mbombela - An Mpumalanga
police constable appeared in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Ccourt on Wednesday in
connection with the theft of an Apple MacBook.
Provincial police
spokesperson Selvy Mohlala confirmed that Constable Promise Mashego, 27, of
Mbombela was arrested on Friday after he was accused of stealing the Apple
MacBook from the Office of the Premier, David Mabuza.
He was not asked to plead,
a Sapa correspondent reported.
The court heard that closed
circuit television camera footage from the premier's office showed the accused,
dressed in his official police uniform, taking the laptop worth roughly R28
500.
He was granted R1 000 bail
and the matter was postponed to 21 January.
