WE DON’T HAVE A BOSS,’ claim Boksburg metro-cops while bullying white business owners Peter and Gail Davisson at their Northmead restaurant and garage…
30 June 2011 - A rescued, 'deleted' photograph shows the Boksburg metro-cops surrounding owner Peter Davisson of the Bimbos Restaurant, Fifth Avenue Northmead on Monday.Peter and Gail Davisson, who own the Engen garage and Bimbos restaurant, thought they had a good relationship with local authorities - until they became the victims of police brutality.
This venue has been a regular pit stop for officers of the Ekurhulen (Boksburg/Benoni) metro-police and the SA Police Force for the past 13 years. But things went a bit sour on Monday morning June 27 2011."We have been giving them free coffee for all this time, until 7.30am that morning," said Peter Davisson. Peter and Gail were manhandled, cuffed and sworn at after they had, very courteously, requesting the officers move some of their vehicles to the back of the business in order to make space for other customers. This did not sit well with the cops - they rudely refused, told Davisson to 'tell the customers to move their cars instead.' "They started arguing with me, and I said I would notify their boss. They laughed at me and said they do not have a boss, one of them said he was the boss," added Peter. About eight officers then surrounded Peter at this time. His wife Gail saw what was happening and took a camera to capture photos of the event but matters got worse.
"They had no name tags so I decided to take their photos," she said."They saw me and about three of them manhandled me and cuffed me before taking the camera." The officers then removed the handcuffs before leaving with the camera."They said I was lucky they did not arrest me for taking their photos as this was intimidation of officers. "They returned the camera about two hours later and all the photos looked like they were deleted," said Peter. However the couple took the camera to a photo studio to have the pictures recovered.According to EMPD spokesperson, Wilfred Kgasago, a case against the officers is being investigated by Chief Supt Hennie Erasmus of the Integrity and Standards Unit.
