Policemen in uniform arrested for businessman's robbery

A Gauteng flying squad
member is on the run after two of his colleagues who were arrested for armed
robbery‚ fingered him as one of their accomplices.
The three allegedly robbed a businessman earlier this week outside
Soweto moments after withdrew R230,000 in cash.
Gilbert Maho of Maho Financial Services was returning from South Gate
Mall when he was stopped by the policemen‚ who were driving in a marked police
vehicle‚ and their accomplices who were in another car‚ said police.
Police spokesman‚ Colonel Nxolo Kweza‚ said the five suspects took the
money before they sped off as well as 187 banks cards which Maho had used to
withdraw money from the bank accounts of people who he had lent cash to.
She said after Maho reported the case to the Mondeor Police Station‚ two
officers left the station‚ returning later with R130,000.
"They were unable to find the remaining money."
She said through investigations‚ two Flying Squad members were asked to
report to the police station.
"The policemen‚ who arrived with R18,100 in cash‚ were identified
by Maho as being among the suspects who had allegedly robbed him. The other
policeman along with the two other men who robbed Maho are still on the
run‚" said Kweza.
She said the police would not hesitate to arrest criminals from within
their ranks.
"We are appealing to communities who have information on police who
commit crimes to come forward with the information."
