Police official and his son arrested in connection
with stealing sheep from Goodhope farm.

MBOMBELA- A warrant officer and his son appeared before the Ermelo
Magistrate’s Court on allegations of stock theft.
This follows incident that occurred on August 2 in Ermelo whereby a
police received information about people who have stolen sheep and were
travelling in a silver Ford Ranger bakkie.”
The police then intensified their patrols on the lookout of the vehicle
in question and spotted and stopped it in town for a search,”said Brid Selvy
Mohlala.
Police found five carcases of sheep at the back of the bakkie whiloe its
occupants W/O Themba Kuhlaze (43) and his son Mxolisi Shabalala (27) were
arrested on spot.
“Further probe uncovered that Kuhlaze had no authority to use the
vehicle which was identified as a police vehicle allocated to the Vehicle
Identification Unit in Ermelo,”he continued.
It was also revealed that the sheep were stolen from Good Hope Farm in
Ermelo.
The two were apprehended and charged with stock theft.
Major General Nogwanya explicitly condemns the alleged acts by Kuhlaze
and his son. He reiterated his warning to the police that no one is above the
law. He also applauded the police who after receiving information,
operationalised it effectively and arrested their own.
He further thanked the public for the tip off as it assisted the police
to arrest the suspects.
Both suspects were remanded in custody and will appear again in court on
August 15.
