Du Plessis also says that uniformed policemen were lying strewn along the side of the road while paramedics tended to their injuries.
"Some were critically injured, according to one policeman on the scene. They requested extra ambulances in the time that I was there. They came rushing from Malmesbury and Cape Town."

At this point, Du Plessis was asked to leave the scene by attending officials.
ER24 spokesperson Pieter Rossouw says, "ER24 transported four people to the Vincent Palloti hospital for further assessment. Three of those sustained minor injuries and the other transported patient was injured critically."
Rossouw says that the cause of the collision is unknown but that local authorities were on scene to investigate.
