I think it is fairly well known that I do not like JMPD. After this December, I dislike them to the extent that I refuse to acknowledge their legal ability to enforce the traffic laws. No one seems to get why. Well, lets take a canter through some of the achievements of JMPD, their big boss Sbu Ndebele and the SA traffic system as a whole.
1.Speeding Fines
As has been publicised recently, almost all of the speeding fines issued by JMPD are illegal. Why? Well once they’ve taken an insanely cool picture of you speeding, they are meant to send the fine via registered mail to you. Registered mail means you get a slip in the postbox, you go into the post office and sign for your fine. This is to stop people weaseling out of fines by claiming they never got them. What JMPD do instead is send you a fine in your postbox. This immediately makes the fine illegal. So all that time and effort spent policing people who drive like ass hats and they send them illegal fines.
Something that emerged yesterday. A silver BMW 5 Series registered in S’bu Ndebeles name has a fine for 250km/h on the N1 North in Jozi in July 2010. Yes, 250km/h. What.the.fuck!
2.Licenses
In a shit attempt to curb road deaths, S’Bu Ndebele ordered the JMPD (and other road agencies) to confiscate peoples licenes if they were arrested for any traffic offenses across the festive season. After having a number of senior legal people both in the Dept. of Transport, political parties and others tell him it was illegal, he sorta forgot about this idea. He sadly forgot to tell the fat fuckers called JMPD. So a number of people have no license as a result of them being dumb as shit and not checking the laws.As an aside, please be aware that only the courts have the power to cancel or suspend your license. You have the right to have legal council present and to defend yourself againt the piggies.
3.Rudeness
Not really grounds for legal complaints, but JMPD are rude as hell. If they attempted to be a bit nicer, people would stop being idiots towards them.
4.JMPD are not real cops
Again, not entirely a legit complaint, but I have utmost respect for SAPS. These guys go into dangerous situations and fight real bad guys like murderers and drug lords. JMPD like stopping rich white people in BMW’s and making their lives shit. They are like the bulleys from high school whose teacher was on the committee. Fight some real bad guys JMPD or GTFO.
5.JMPD are criminals
All this complaining is good and well, and sounds like a rich white kids issues, but then you read a story like the one of Mahomed Salim Issa. This Homeless Talk seller was robbed of the R1 500 given to him by a good Samaritan by Uniformed JMPD Officers. There have been other charges. 2 sisters were raped by JMPD in Lonehill in December, a JMPD officer was found guilty of stealing money from a citizen. All of these crimes were commited by on duty, uniformed officers. And people wonder why we hate them?
