Police official allegedly raped woman in cells

Town – The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) on Monday
confirmed that it was investigating the rape of a 20-year-old woman at the
Laingsburg police station in the Western Cape. National spokesman Moses Dlamini
said the alleged incident occurred on Friday night. “It is alleged that the
victim was arrested for theft and detained alone in Laingsburg police cells.
