Almost overcome with emotion during an interview on Radio 702’s Midday
Report, Rwandan-born Deo Kaitesi, 26, who has lived in Cape Town since he was
nine, described his ordeal at the hands of cops who he alleges repeatedly
shocked him on the body and testicles with stun guns, held a lighter flame to
his penis, and stole R300 from his wallet.
With criminals on one side and rogue cops on the other, law-abiding South Africans are caught between a rock and a hard place. This latest outrage is yet another in a litany of incidents of police brutality and downright lawlessness.
These rogue cops act with impunity. Clearly they have nothing to fear from the justice system they are meant to uphold.
