SAPS slams police corruption report
29 January 2015 at 13:51 by ECR Newswatch -
The
South African Police Service has dismissed as rubbish a report by the SA
Institute of Race Relations highlighting police involvement in criminal
activity over the past four years
The report titled the 'Broken Blue Line 2' found
members of the police service play a major role in committing very serious
crimes including armed robberies, rapes and murders.
National Police spokesperson, Solomon Makgale says
the report is not based on research or facts and is also fundamentally flawed.
''What this report does is to generalise - it is to
say that each and every police officer that you see is a potential rapist, and
each police officer that you see is going to murder you, or is going to rob
you.
''We
know that is not true - there are many many police officers who are working
hard day and night to protect this nation,'' he said.
