Police vehicle involved in collision in
Blairgowrie Posted By: jonckiePosted date: June 05, 2012In: Accidents, Arrive
Alive, Paramedics, Road Safety 2014No Comments Today (05/06/2012) at approximately
09:30 a police officer driving a SAPS vehicle allegedly lost control of the
vehicle, drove into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Toyota RunX.
The accident happened on Conrade Road in Blairgowrie, Johannesburg. Terence
Teixeira from the Matrix Road Safety Association, who arrived on the scene,
says both police officers in the SAPS vehicle sustained injuries and were
transported by emergency services to a nearby hospital. The driver of the
Toyota however could not be moved due to the nature of her injuries and
required the Johannesburg Fire Department to free her from the vehicle.“The
Emer-G-Med paramedics and the Matrix Road Safety Association’s vehicle medic
were on the scene and stabilised the trapped patient while the Johannesburg
Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to free her. Once freed from the vehicle
she was transported by an Emer-G-Med ambulance to a nearby hospital,” reports
Teixeira. The South African Police Service will be investigating the cause of
the accident. - See more at:
