The four police officers are arrested in connection with a robbery in
Soshanguve.(SABC)
Four Tshwane Metro police officials have been arrested in connection
with a robbery in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.
The four were arrested after reporting for duty on Sunday morning in Mamelodi, east of the city. They have been charged with business robbery.
The robbery took place on Saturday. Police say the officials drove from Mamelodi where they were deployed, to Soshanguve, using Metro vehicles.
They then allegedly stopped at a Somali owned shop and demanded money. Police say R5 000 was apparently taken.
Community members notified police of the incident soon after.
"We are immediately going to issue them with the notice to intend to suspend them looking into the seriousness of this matter and they have seven days to respond to us as to why they should not be suspended, " says Tshwane Metro Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.
