Cape Town - A policeman has been arrested in connection with a
cash-in-transit heist committed in Kraaifontein in Tuesday night, the Hawks
said on Wednesday.
The suspects held the guards at gunpoint in Wabrug Road and stole
an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene, spokesperson Lieutenant
Lloyd Ramovha said in a statement.
Investigations into the robbery led to the arrest of a 33-year-old
police constable at his residence in Khayelitsha. One bag containing cash was
recovered.
The policeman was stationed at the Nyanga police station and
allegedly used an official vehicle in the heist. The five other robbers were
still at large.
The constable was expected to appear in the Kuils River
Magistrate's Court on Friday.
