Potchefstroom – Four North West traffic officers were arrested on
Friday for alleged bribery and corruption, traffic authorities said.
Members of the national anti-corruption unit and Hawks arrested
them at their office in Potchefstroom following months of investigation, Road
Traffic Management Corporation spokesperson Simon Zwane said. More arrests were
expected, as part of efforts to clean up the traffic department's image.
More
than 30 traffic officers had been arrested since last year on allegations of
bribery, fraud, and corruption.
The four are expected to appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrate's
Court on Monday.
