CAPE TOWN
- A court has ordered a Cape Town policeman accused of raping two boys to
undergo medical treatment while in custody for severe back pain.
The
warrant officer had trouble standing up straight as a result of the pain when
he appeared in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court yesterday.
The
40-year-old policeman was arrested by the Independent Police Investigative
Directorate on Wednesday for allegedly sexually assaulting two 14-year-old boys
on numerous occasions.
He allegedly sexually assaulted the two boys on several occasions over a
number of years and reporedly paid the boys so they wouldn't report him to
authorities.
The man
faces 10 counts of statutory rape and eight counts of sexual assault.
He has
since been suspended from the South African Police Service and will remain in
custody at Pollsmoor Prison until his next court appearance on 11 July.
The case
was postponed yesterday for bail information and in order for the accused to
finalise his legal representation.
