– A police constable has been handed 33 years in prison after being found
guilty of kidnapping and raping an 18-year-old woman.
Constable Lungile Majola was sentenced in the Palm Ridge High Court on four counts including kidnapping, rape and robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Last April Majola stopped next to the victim and her boyfriend in a VW Polo, robbed the pair of their cell phones and then raped the woman in a nearby field.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorates Grace Langa said, “Ipid managed to secure a 33-year sentence against a constable for theft and pointing of a firearm. The second case was kidnapping, the third robbery and the fourth rape.”
Earlier today, a police officer was arrested for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman in custody at the linden police station.
