Four crime intelligence officers were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly accepting a
R5 000 bribe to squash a crime docket, Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) said.
Senior
Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the man complained to the JMPD and the Hawks,
a specialist police unit, that officers from Johannesburg Central Crime
Intelligence wanted R5 000 from him.
He
said they had fabricated the crimes against him.
The
JMPD and Hawks arrested the men after they allegedly accepted the R5 000 in
Ennerdale at about 17:30.
”They
are currently facing charges for bribery and corruption. They are in custody,”
said Minnaar.
They
are expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court later this week.
Whether the man actually faced any crime charges would also be investigated,
Minnaar said.
