Pretoria cops caught taking

PRETORIA, Gauteng - Two Pretoria metro police
officers will face disciplinary action for accepting bribes from drivers,
reports the Tshwane metro police department on Wednesday (May 29 2014).
The officers allegedly solicited bribes from drivers in Pretoria West, close to the intersection of Luttig and Maltzan streets, on Tuesday. A criminal case has apparently not been opened against the men, both about 35 years old.
Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said: "The matter will be handled internally and they will be served with notices of intent to suspend."
OFFICERS CONFESSED TO BRIBERY
A Tshwane metro police investigator, who saw the officers, thought they were up to something and parked to watch. They stopped about 10 cars. One of them issued one ticket, the other two.
Mahamba said the investigator saw the driver of a Mercedes-Benz hand money to one of the officers. The investigator stopped the driver.
"The driver confessed to paying a bribe and both the officers confessed to taking a bribe," Mahamba said. "R200 was found on one officer and R190 on the other."
Wheels24 says: These officers allegedly committed a serious crime. They should appear before a court and be punished under South African law just like any other criminal.
Their actions are criminal, not internal, they should be publicly named and shamed.
