Description
Suspected rhino-poacher injured, arrested; then it 's discovered he's a police officer:
Beeld Afrikaans daily newspaper journalist Buks Viljoen reports on Friday
24 Mei 2013 that a man who was amongst a group of suspected rhino-poachers, turned out to be an active-duty SA Police Officer.
The policeman was injured in the Kruger Wildlife Reserve in South Africa near the Phabeni entrance in the southern part of the world-famous reserve, where a mini-war has been raging between the poachers of the valuable rhinos, and the wildlife wardens. A group of park rangers were trail-tracing at around 17h30 when they heard a rifleshot near the Phabeni gate.
The group of park rangers traced three suspects - and one was subsequently injured and arrested while two others escaped. A hunting rifle with a silencer was found with the arrested police officer.
