On Monday August 13 20122 SAPS student constanble Mphikeledi Alfred Mahlanga 39 & warrant officer Amos Chris Masilela 48 appeared in the Pretoria North Regional Court on charges of helping the alleged rapist of this student escape on Friday-night. Beeld newspaper writes that the two police members apparently took the accused man to Dr George Mukhari hospital in Ga-Rankuwa in northern Pretoria without handcuffs or shackles after he "complained of feeling ill". He then escaped through a toilet window. According to the charge sheet, the police officials were arrested that same day and later released on a warning. The matter was postponed for them to obtain legal representation.O utside court, the two followed Beeld's photographer after he took their picture. They took cellphone pictures of him and his car’s registration number.Gauteng police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said on Monday that an internal investigation had been launched into the incident. Authorities would wait for the result before suspending the men. Apart from the attack on the student, the alleged rapist is sought for three other rape incidents. DA councillor and board member of the Sinoville community policing forum, Arnold van Niekerk, visited the student in hospital on Monday and said an example had to be made of the two police officers if it was found that they had not followed police procedure.

Beeld journalists Sonja Carstens and Hanti Otto wrote that meanwhile the 22-year-old Pretoria university student - who was stabbed 23 times before being raped and left for dead last week is an “incredibly strong and courageous woman”, one of her doctors said..“The strength of the Lord is shining through her and her mother,” said Dr Lets Pretorius (who also is on trial in the Boeremag treason-trial in Pretoria) on Monday after visiting the student in ICU where she was in a stable condition. Eight of her knife wounds were potentially fatal. Pretorius helped Dr Stefan Rawlins, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon, and Dr Pieter Coertze, an orthopaedic surgeon, in the lengthy emergency operation on the student following the attack. The student from Magalieskruin, Pretoria, who was put on antiretroviral treatment following the rape, gave permission to her mother and Pretorius to give details about her injuries. Pretorius said a neurosurgeon had to help remove the point of the knife blade, which broke off in her skull. “Judging from the stab wounds, I suspect her attacker was left-handed,” he said. Brutal beating by Police South Africa
Afrikaner motorist Barend Esterhuizen beaten by Klerksdorp cops: 5 days in hospital https://www.facebook.com/censorbugbear/photos/a.117964074884107.20843.116752351671946/907466089267231/?type=1&theater- August 25 2014. Afrikaner motorist Barend Esterhuizen, 37, has been in the Wilmedpark hospital in Klerksdorp for the past four days, recovering from a brutal beating by a group of South African policemen. Esterhuizen who is from Stilfontein in North West, said he was at a... Klerksdorp crossing on Thursday-morning at 02h00 and driving through as the light was still orange. He admitted that he was talking on his cellphone to his fiancée to let her know he was on his way home - he'd had a few drinks with friends - when he became frightened when two police vans loomed up behind him. "I decided to take to the road but soon came to my senses and pulled over, climbed from my car and waited while the bright lights of the police-vans were blinding me.' "I was still telling them; 'I'm sorry it was my fault, I wasn't thinking about what I was doing', when I felt blows and kicks against my head and my body.'"Then I passed out, it all happened so fast, I felt blood flowing across my face and became panic stricken'. He was handcuffed and taken to the police station. "When I arrived at the police post they tested my blood and kept me in a cell. I was only allowed to let my family know at 04h00am where I was when they let me out on bail so that I could go to hospital'. His attorney Johan Myburgh confirmed that he appeared in the local magistrate's court on Mr Esterhuizen's behalf because the victim was still in hospital. "The court postponed the case in the absence of the accused. The docket shows that he is being accused of reckless or negligent driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was ordered to appear on 9 September.
Myburgh said the police's statement does not match the injuries sustained by the badly bruised, beaten Mr Esterhuizen - who required hospital treatment for five days. "The police claim he 'refused to cooperate' and 'chased off'. They also deny assaulting him but said they 'shoved him by accident and he fell on his face.'
However my client's injuries look very bad.' This is very serious. I let the court know on Friday that we will lodge charges against the police of assault and attempted murder as soon as my client is able to do so'. The North West police official spokesman Lt Sabata Mokgwabone didn't know anything about it and would investigate.
Esterhuizen will leave hospital on Monday August 25 his attorney said. (Boere Krisis Aksie)

SA sees SAPS as most corrupt within the state - survey
Wednesday, 27/06/2012 - 15:36
http://www.corruptionwatch.org.za/sites/default/files/copscorrupt.jpgThe survey results point to South Africans' strong desire for the police and government to become capable fighters against corruption, despite concerns with present performance.Two-thirds of South Africans believe the most corrupt government officials are in the national police service, followed by those in the Department of Home Affairs – these are among the findings recently released as part of a Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) survey.
The study, on perceptions of corruption in the country, was conducted with the help of South African Social Attitudes Survey 2011 (Sasas), which sampled 3 057 South Africans from the ages of 16 years and older.
The results of the survey also indicate that about three-quarters (74%) of all South Africans believe the incidence of corruption has increased in the past three years, while 10% feel it has declined and 12% report that it has remained unchanged over the period.

“In recent years, there has been mounting attention and concern focused on corruption scandals involving the police, politicians and the nation’s business elite, to the extent that Public Protector Thuli Madonsela recently proclaimed that the country has reached a tipping point in its battle against corruption,” said the HSRC.

“The survey results show high levels of dissatisfaction with the problem and widespread support for tougher action.”

Dark clouds hanging over NPA threaten SA Constitution’
The Helen Suzman Foundation is concerned over the state of the NPA, its head & his deputy, Nomgcobo Jiba.
JOHANNESBURG – The Helen Suzman Foundation says the country's Constitution is under threat with dark clouds hanging over both National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) boss Mxolisi Nxasana and his deputy Nomgcobo Jiba.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has written to President Jacob Zuma, asking him to extend the inquiry into Nxasana’s fitness to hold office to include Jiba.

The foundation’s director, Francis Antonie, says they are extremely concerned about the state of the Hawks, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU), the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) and the NPA, with various debacles surrounding these offices, threatening the existence of the Constitution.
“If the larger South Africa doesn’t take care, these organisations will collapse.”

The Democratic Alliance (DA)’s Glynnis Breytenbach, who once worked under the deputy NPA boss, says Jiba is protecting senior political leaders like President Jacob Zuma.

“Nxasana has asked for her to be suspended on several occasions, this has not been done. This can only indicate that she’s enjoying protection from the president.”

The Helen Suzman Foundation yesterday received a letter acknowledging its submission made to the inquiry into Nxasana’s fitness to hold office.

Johannesburg - The Labour Court in Johannesburg on Friday ordered the police minister and national commissioner to appear in court for failing to adhere to a previous order.
Judge Anton Steenkamp ruled in favour of labour union Solidarity and whistleblower Colonel Kobus Roos with regard to the SA Police Service having failed to redeploy Roos in a similar position.

The union and Roos approached the court as they felt the SAPS had failed to abide by a previous court ruling to reinstate Roos to a crime intelligence position.

Roos, who has worked for the police for 26 years, was originally demoted by ex-crime intelligence boss Richard Mdluli, after he exposed corruption in the crime intelligence unit.

Mdluli removed Roos from his position as head of internal audit and placed him in the inspectorate and evaluation division of the union -- a post the union said was redundant.

In April, the Labour Court ordered the police to redeploy Roos to a similar position to the one he had before his demotion.

In granting the order, Steenkamp said Police Minister Nathi Nhleko and commissioner Riah Phiyega had to appear in court on November 28 to say why the order should not be made final and show how they had complied with the previous order.

Three NC cops in court for robbery
15:35 (GMT+2), Wed, 28 January 2015

Kimberley - Two police officers and a reservist constable appeared in the Galeshewe Magistrate's Court, Kimberley, on Wednesday on a charge of robbery, Northern Cape police said.
The case against the 42-year-old warrant officer, Constable Olebogeng Martin Molatlhwe, 30, and police reservist Constable Edward Arendse, 36, was postponed to February 3 for a formal bail application, Colonel Priscilla Naidu said.

"We cannot release the name of the warrant officer because he has not appeared in the identification parade and this may jeopardise our investigation," she said.

Naidu said on Saturday around 2pm, three police officers in uniform went to a foreign-owned tuck shop in Magoda Street, Galeshewe, and allegedly robbed it.

"The complainant alleged that the police officers informed him that they were searching for illegal cigarettes. Two officers entered the shop while the other person remained outside," Naidu said.

"The place was searched and cash to the amount of R9000 was taken. Witnesses alleged that the police officers drove off in a marked police vehicle from SAPS Roodepan."

She said a case of robbery was opened at the Galeshewe police station. The officers were arrested on Monday afternoon.
