TRT officers have been accused of stealing
R10,000 from a vehicle they stopped and searched last Monday evening.
According to the driver, 46-year-old Mohammed
Moola, he was pulled over by TRT members doing a routine vehicle stop.
They accused him of driving a stolen or
unlicensed vehicle after they incorrectly read his licence plate. While he was
being questioned by officers at the back of the vehicle, other officers
searched the front of the BMW, allegedly removing R10,000 from a money bag in the
cubbyhole.
The theft was reported to both TRT officials
and senior police management. The case is expected to be reported to the
Independent Police Investigation Directorate (IPID).
