Off-duty Metro cop shoots Joburg motorist in
Honeydew who grabbed his police woman girlfriend's gun:
2012-09-12 Johannesburg - A motorist was shot
and wounded after he ALLEGEDLY pointed a firearm at a metro police officer in
an alleged road rage incident in Honeydew on Wednesday, Johannesburg metro
police said. The name of the injured motorist was not released, nor tne name of
the hospital he was treated at for a gunshot wound in his leg.
Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the
cars of the 24-year-old motorist and the off-duty metro police officer collided
at the Christiaan de Wet and John Vorster intersection in Honeydew.
The metro police officer was with his
girlfriend, a police officer, in the car. It is not known if the girl friend
was off duty or not. The motorist allegedly grabbed the policewoman's firearm and pointed it at the metro police
officer. The officer reached for his own firearm and shot the motorist in the
leg.
Minnaar said the man was in a stable condition
in hospital. No arrests had been made.
