Cops get bail for demanding a bribe

Polokwane - Two police officers were granted
bail by the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for charges relating to the
demanding of a bribe, police said.
“Captain Manaka KamuelMaleka and Constable MmangwetjanaMasekwameng were granted R2 000 bail each," said Lieutenant Colonel MohaleRamatseba.
Their case was postponed to March 18 for further investigation.
In July Masekwameng allegedly demanded a R1 000 bribe from a motorist who was driving recklessly.
“She allegedly threatened the victim with detention if they did not pay the money.”
The motorist reported the matter to Maleka, who allegedly covered the incident up.
The two officers were arrested by the organised crime unit on Tuesday.
