Western Cape cop held for drunken driving

Cape Town - A policeman from the city has
been arrested for crashing while driving drunk, it was reported on Monday.
The Cape Argus reported that the cluster
commander was arrested when he crashed into a car on the N2 at Khayelitsha on
Saturday night.
Metro police deputy chiefYolandi Faro said a
metro police officer was taking the drivers' details at the crash scene when he
noticed that the commander was not stable on his feet.
Asked whether he had been drinking, the
policeman said he had had only "a few glasses" of alcohol. The other
driver also appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.
Faro told the newspaper both drivers were
taken for alcohol testing and were arrested on drunk driving charges.
They were due to appear in the Khayelitsha
Magistrate's Court later on Monday.
Western Cape police commissioner Arno Lamoer
told 567CapeTalk radio on Monday that the law should take its course and that
an internal investigation would be launched.
