Police detective arrested for rape

A Newcastle police detective has been arrested for rape, following
allegations brought against him by a young female resident.
Police spokesperson, Captain ShoozMagudulela confirmed a sergeant with
the Newcastle SAPS had been arrested on a charge of rape.
“The member in question already appeared in court, but the matter was
struck off the roll due to a lack of evidence,” said Captain Magudulela.
According to sources, the detective is part of the Murder and Robbery
Unit. Currently, police are conducting an internal investigation to determine
what transpired between the alleged victim and the police official.
At this stage, the identity or rank of the official in question is
unknown.
