Police ordered to pay out 'drunk' pastor
2012-05-11 08:29

Pretoria - The High Court in Pretoria has ordered that police pay a pastor R70 000 for wrongfully arresting him for drunken driving, The Star reported on Friday.
Simon Makoetlane was pulled over late at night in Worcester in November 2007 and arrested for driving under the influence.
He spent five hours in a police cell, even though the Zion Christian Church pastor neither drinks nor smokes.
The charges were dropped about six months later, after a blood test taken on the night of the arrest proved he had no alcohol in his system.
