Residents Fritz Kraemer and Johan van Dalen
witnessed an unmotivated assault by police officers targetting a young man in
Ockerse Street, Krugersdorp, South
Africa.

The footage shows a young man walking down the
street when a police van pulls up next to him and an officer gets out and
starts hitting him against a bakkie that is parked in the street. Soon
thereafter an other officer gets out and joins his colleague in the assault.
Later two other police vehicles pull up and the officers get out and proceed in further assaulting the man.Fritz Kraemer, a resident in the street who witnessed the whole attack and says, “The man shouting, for what, for what? The officers just kept on hitting him and a pulled his feet out from under him causing him to fall. “It doesn’t matter what the man did, there is no reason to be beaten up like that. I shouted at the police to stop, but they said I must go to the police station if I have a problem.”
The CCTV cameras that captured the entire assault
are situated in Johan van Dalen’s yard. Van Dalen says, “We do not want
to go to the police station and show them the footage because we are scared
they will lock us up to cover this up.” The NEWS contacted the spokesman of the
Krugersdorp Police, Captain Jacob Raboroko for comment who said that he would
send through comment as soon as possible.
