This police station should be taken off the map.

My daughter and two friends were mugged by four thugs outside a club in the area. After being threatened at knife-point and their cellphones stolen, they managed to get away.

They immediately drove to Mount Road police station, at 2am, where the police on duty were totally disinterested. My daughter could give them a detailed description of what the thugs were wearing but no one wanted to listen – they were told the police would let a patrol car go out.

They also needed to be given case numbers for the stolen cellphones. This was only done on Monday when they returned to the police station.

At about 3.15am on the same night another male friend was also mugged by the same gang.

I called the station commander on the Monday to complain about the service. He eventually phoned me back at 4pm and, on hearing what had happened, said he would send out detectives to investigate. I am still waiting and it is now two months!

My heart goes out to the girl’s family. As if they didn’t have enough on their plate, now also to have to put up with Mount Road police station service delivery!
