The station commissioner of the Krugersdorp police station has been given a notice of intention to suspend him while the killing of a robbery suspect is being investigated.

Acting National Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane yesterday told Parliament's Committee on Police that he had ordered disciplinary action against the station commissioner.

The station commissioner was in command of four officers linked to what's been termed the 'execution' of Khulekani Mpanza.

The four officers have since been arrested, and three of them face murder charges.

Phahlane told MPs the station commissioner was handed the notice on the grounds that he would have known about the shooting before it was published in a newspaper.
