CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Police Commissioner Arno Lamoer on Tuesday said a police reservist who allegedly sexually assaulted a homeless man will be fired.

The reservist constable appeared in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

He was arrested by the Independent Police Directorate over the weekend.

It is alleged the homeless man had gone to Bellville police station looking for shelter, when he was forced into a room in the back and raped.

Lamoer said such actions could never be tolerated.

“He will not only be suspended but dismissed out of our service. Because we do not need people who break the rules of our country in such a way, that you violate a homeless person.”
