North West police are investigating a case of murder against a police captain following the death of a resident at Ganyesa, near Vryburg.

The incident occurred after police had gone to a local tavern to enforce liquor laws and were attacked by customers.

“One of the police the shot three warning shots in the air where then later on, when the crowd was dispersed, a body of the deceased person was found on the stoep of the tavern with an injury on the neck, which could have been a stab wound or could have been a bullet wound.”

“At the stage we have reported the matter to the IPID, so that they carry the investigation if there was any police action which may have caused the fatal death of the person or was the person stabbed as a result of other criminality that occurred on that tavern,” says Ngubane.
