A Kuilsrivier police constable has been arrested for a house robbery he allegedly committed while on duty, Western Cape police said on Friday.
The robbery took place on September 25 in Bellville and the officer was arrested on Friday, said Lt-Col Andre Traut.
“He was one of six uniformed officers who approached a 27-year-old Chinese national and his wife at their residence and gained access to their house under false pretences,” he said.
“Once inside, the suspect… and his accomplices robbed the victim of household goods and a VW Polo, which is yet to be recovered.”
More arrests were imminent, said Traut.
The 38-year-old policeman is due to appear in court on Monday.
“Police officers who are under the impression that they can join the SA Police Service and moonlight as criminals simultaneously must seriously reconsider,” he said.
