POLICE crime intelligence chief Lt-Gen Richard Mdluli appeared in court yesterday afternoon with two other officials on murder charges.
He appeared with warrant officer Samuel Dlomo and a colonel from crime intelligence, Nkosana Ximba, on charges relating to a man who opened a case of attempted murder before his death in 1999.

The three were not asked to plead and were remanded until their next court appearance, next Thursday in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court.
They face three counts of intimidation, three counts of kidnapping, two counts of assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and defeating the course of justice.
The charges relate to the period when Lt-Gen Mdluli was station commander at the Vosloorus police station in Ekurhuleni. National Prosecuting Authority spokesman Mthunzi Mhaga said Lt-Gen Mdluli, accompanied by his lawyer, handed himself over to the court .

Immediately after he was appointed head of crime intelligence in 1999, Lt-Gen Mdluli’s integrity was questioned when reports surfaced that he could have been involved in the murder of Oupa Ramogibe. The Ramogibe family in Vosloorus said Mr Ramogibe was murdered after being threatened by Lt-Gen Mdluli.
Police also confirmed that Lt-Gen Mdluli’s arrest had nothing to do with the case of Czech fraud accused Radovan Krejcir.
