Johannesburg - A police constable is facing 14 counts of rape, 14 counts of kidnapping and nine of robbery.

The State alleges that Constable Mokolo Molekwa committed some of the crimes while in uniform, reported The Pretoria News.

Most of the crimes were committed in the Ekurhuleni and Johannesburg areas.

In one of the incidents, Molekwa and a colleague allegedly picked up two women while on their way to a team-building event.

Molekwa allegedly raped one of the women, who was 18 at the time, when they were alone in the car.

In another incident, Molekwa and two friends allegedly raped a woman and robbed her of her bank card and withdrew money.

A spokesperson for the Independent Police Investigative Directorate said Molekwa was wearing his uniform and was on duty when some of the crimes were committed.
