Lele Ledwaba lays charges after alleged police brutality

Johannesburg- Rhythm City actress Lele Ledwaba is distraught after being beaten, allegedly by a female Metro police officer on Monday night.

As reported exclusively by The Juice, Lele yesterday received medical treatment for serious injuries sustained during the apparent physical altercation. (Read that story here) She has a fractured wrist, broken thumb and severe bruising on her body.

Today The Juice can reveal that Lele has laid a complaint at a police station, and will be taking legal action against the officer in question. We were told that she managed to capture the officers details shortly after the incident.

We managed to speak to her after she left the police station, but a very emotional Lele could barely string her words together, breaking out into tears when she tried to recall the incident.

"I tried to explain to her that I did stop at the sign, and asked for her identification. Before I knew it her hand was in my car, she told me to get out of the car and assaulted me," said Lele.

The actress, who has just recently joined the soapie, could hardly speak but did confirm to us that she is now at home after being treated at a hospital for her injuries.

The incident has sparked outrage nationwide, with people calling on swift action to be taken agains the official responsible for the apparent attack. It comes as South African's unite for Women's Month.
