JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating a case of gang rape after a woman was attacked at gunpoint in Fairlands by men dressed in metro police uniforms.

The woman was pulled over while travelling on 14th Avenue last week.

She was asked to provide her driver’s license and was searched before being gang raped.
The police's Moloko Kgatla says the men, dressed in Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) uniforms, pointed a firearm at the woman and forced her into nearby bushes.

“She was raped by two guys in metro police uniform. The other one was raping her while the other one was pointing the lady with the firearm.”

It’s not yet clear whether the men had been posing as officers or really are metro cops.
No arrests have yet been made.

The JMPD has also launched an investigation.
