The policeman is accused of raping the 25 year old woman while she was in police custody on Saturday.

After the alleged rape occurred the woman was able to inform the officers on duty when they came in the morning and the matter was reported to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) and the officer taken into custody.

The woman has undergone a medical examination.

The NPA has yet to say whether they will prosecute or not. Ipid is investigating the incident.
