video clip was provided to the local newspaper of how one was beaten up in the
back of the police van.The two residents Gerhard Groenewald and Eugene Karreman
allege that they were arrested several times on false charges when they were on
their way to work, shocked, tear-gassed, verbally abused and beaten up in the
back of a police van.There were several neutral witnesses to these various
events.Groenewald has now fled Hermanus and lives with his brother in Port
Elizabeth - an ex-policeman, saying he fears for his life because the Hermanus
police keep harassing and arresting him. Karreman made a video recording on his
cell phone of Groenewald being beaten while in the back of the HPP van: VIEW
