The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has arrested a forty (40) year old male Warrant Officer following allegations that he had raped two fourteen (14) year old minors – both victims are males. The rape of one of the victims is alleged to have occurred over a period of four years starting from around 2010 when the victim was 10 years old. The suspect Warrant Officer is stationed at SAPS Bellville South in the Western Cape.

The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) became aware of the matter on 20 June 2014 and swiftly initiated an investigation which culminated in the arrest on 02 July 2014 of the policeman at his place of residence. Allegations came to light during the investigation that the suspect policeman had on many occasions raped the victims and made them perform oral sex on him. It is alleged that some of these incidents occurred in the toilets of the police station where the suspect was based. There are also allegations that the suspect made the two minors watch pornographic videos at his house. He apparently gave the victims between R50-00 to R200-00 afterwards.

The IPID hastened to arrest the policeman on 02 July 2014 following allegations that he had also made death threats to fellow SAPS members. The suspect was detained at Kraaifontein police station. It was reported that while in the police holding cells the suspect attempted to commit suicide by cutting his wrists. He was rushed to a local clinic for treatment after which he was transferred back to Kraaifontein police station for further detainment. He will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates Court on Friday, 04 July 2014.
